How does our baby programme work?
Each lesson starts with a little exercise song and a big hello from Jog the Frog
(our fitness mascot). A wide range of props are used to keep your little one interested and stimulated. We dance, swing, sway, clap, tap and roll to our Clamber Club action songs that have been especially written to develop specific skills.
Each week we have a different theme that focuses on developmental theory and on stimulating the senses. The themes give parents ideas on how to stimulate baby and why they are important in the overall healthy development of your baby.
The lesson plans include:
- Infant massage using the International Association of Infant Massage course
- Baby exercises to strengthen your baby’s body and to prepare him for sitting
and crawling
- A weekly `sensory surprise’ focusing on one of the senses.
- The skill of the week is an activity that all babies do with the Clamber
Club teacher.
- It usually focuses on the theme for that week and individual attention
is give to
each baby.
- Wonderful gross motor equipment
- Loads of tips on how to stimulate and play with your baby
Once parents have had a cup of tea, and babies have had their stimulation time, we
slow down the lesson, calm babies, and say goodbye to Jog the Frog.
This programme is designed especially for your little baby. Learn how to stimulate your
baby through massage and stimulating the senses, how to calm your baby and how to
exercise with your baby. All teachers are qualified infant massage instructors and have
had thorough training in infant development. During classes we exercise to special Clamber
Club music and meet Jog the Frog our fitness mascot. Our classes are fun filled and lively,
and are full of handy tips and ideas for home.
Who developed the programme?
Physiotherapist Diana Jansen and occupational therapist Liz Senior developed the in depth
training programmes and manuals. The classes have been a team collaboration with Diana, Liz
and existing Clamber Club teachers to ensure that all aspects of development are covered, with
teachers and trainers Joanne Buchner and Ronel Coetzee adding valuable input.
How are our teachers trained?
All teachers who work at the Clamber Club go through a
very thorough training of theory and practical work
before they run any classes. (To see more go to `
all about us’) Our team will do its best to provide
you and your child with an updated professional
service that you will both enjoy and benefit from.
