Action tips: Hold hands and walk around in a circle. At `atishoo’ all fall down on the ground.

Action tips: Walk around in a circle to the music pretending to stir the pudding (stirring with a spoon makes it fun), put your hand/foot into the circle and follow the actions

Action tips: Rock side to side pretending to be a ticking clock. Stretch up and down as the mouse goes up and down, rock back and forth.

Action tips: Hop around like a bunny, and point to your nose, ear and chin. Pretend to flick the fly away.

Action tips: Pretend to be the farmer asking baa baa black sheep for his wool. `Baa baa black sheep’ nods his head, and counts up to 3 with his fingers.

Action tips: Shake your bodies and jump vigorously to get the jiggles out!

Action tips: Show the correct number of bottles with your fingers. Practice counting skills by putting out some empty plastic water bottles and letting each one `fall’ as you dance around them.

Action tips: Lie down on the ground and pretend to sleep. At `up jumped’ jump up and dance like a scarecrow. Shake hands and head. Lie down again for the hens sleeping.

Action tips: This song can be played out in many ways. Either rolling on a bed and jumping back on again for each one, rolling soft toys over, or with the parent holding the child/ baby in standing position and rocking him from side to side. As the one rolls out, lift baby and pretend he is falling.

Action tips: Swing your child gently from side to side. Rock from side to side

Action tips: Bounce your child on your knees from side to side and up and down.

Action tips: Put one hand on your hip and the other out as a spout. Tip to the side when pouring out.

Action tips: Place a piece of string on the ground and balance on it while walking to the song. If you are in a group, pick one child to be the 1st elephant, who then picks the 2nd, who then picks the 3rd etc, and all fall down at the end. You can pretend play this game with soft toys as well!


17. The farmer’s in the dell

Action tips: If you are a group of children one becomes the farmer, the farmer then chooses the wife etc until the dog is chosen by the nurse and all pat the dog. If there are no other children, use soft toys in their places.


18. Pat a cake

Pat it and prick it

For baby and me

Action tips: Pat your child’s body all over and gently pretend to `prick’ it. Draw a letter `b’ with your finger on his body and cover him up with your body to put him in the `oven’.

Action tips: Pretend to drive to the zoo. Move like the animals. Behave like the animals & pull funny faces.

Action tips: Move fingers to twinkle like little stars. Point up to the sky so high and form a diamond with your hands at `like a diamond in the sky’.

Action tips: Roly poly hands for the wheels on the bus, put two hands in front and move them from side to side as the wipers, beep the horn by pushing hands forwards, jump up and down for the `children’.

Action tips: If there are 2 or more of you, play the game by walking in a circle holding hands for in and out, then bow to each other, link arms and skip in a circle, shake hands

Action tips: March around pretending to be soldiers. Stretch up high and bend down low. If you are holding your child, lift him up and down when the duke was `up and down’. At halfway up, swing your child gently from side to side

Action tips: Show the amount of ducks with your fingers. Open arms wide for big and make them small for little. Put hands on backs for feathers. Make a beak with your fingers to move them as you quack like a duck.

Action tips: Show each finger as it is mentioned and move it separately. Wiggle your fingers.

Action tips: Invest in a bell shaker (or make your own) and shake to the song. Pretend to ride your horse while shaking your bells.

Action tips: Put your child on your bent knees and bounce him from the left to right side. When humpty falls off the wall, let your child fall gently between your legs. Pick him up again and continue to bounce.

Action tips: Make your hands into a fist and pretend that it is a beehive. Look into the fists to look for the bees. Open one finger at a time to let the bees out. Tickle all over pretending your fingers are buzzing bees.

Action tips: Open both hands wide and move them from side to side. When the sun shines down, open and shut the fingers or pat hands on the floor. When the sun is behind the tree, cover your face with your hands. When the sun comes out, run/bounce.

Action tips: Pretend your fingers are the spider climbing up. As the rain falls down bring hands down, and wash the spider out with arms opening wide. Show open fingers for the sunshine.

Action tips: Move and make sounds like each animal. Make your own music shakers out of small cardboard soap or toothpaste boxes. Fill them with rice or pasta, tape them and shake as you dance to the music.
